THE SANDERS SOLUTION

Sanders Containment Filter’s ability to capture and hold particles the size known pathogens is a true breakthrough in filtration. This new Sanders Containment filter is available to fill the gap between a viral outbreak’s beginning and the time it takes to create a vaccine and its distribution.  This will greatly enhance our ability to contain the spread of respiratory viruses.  The Containment Filter should be used immediately after an outbreak is recognized, during the period before a vaccine is developed and available to the general public.

During a respiratory outbreak, or even a bad seasonal flu outbreak, we must assume the air is contaminated since we cannot be assured that it is not. The ability to scrub sub-micron size particles from the air, which are the size of known pathogens, without using a hard sided HEPA has never been available before. The resistance of the Sanders Containment Filter is so low it can filter any sub-micron size particle and be used for residential and light commercial systems which has never been possible before. Additionally, it can be used as a cut pad, this means that during a respiratory outbreak it can remove suspended particles quickly, which has never been available before.

After Sanders Containment Filter has been installed, the very high efficiency submicron filtration, drastically reduces airborne particles the size of Droplet Nuclei in the inhabited area. This could potentially save millions of lives per year and billions in health care costs as a prevention method for airborne hospital acquired infections. Hand washing and vaccines are preventative measures; they can help prevent the infection from occurring. This additionally is a superior preventive method that is able to prevent in a way that has never been done before; sub-micron air filtration during a respiratory disease outbreak spread by airborne pathogens. 

How is Sanders Containment Filter Different? 

       The solution to the transmission of the microbes through the H.V.A.C. system, with branch multi-room systems, is by preventing them from entering the system in the first place, this is what this product was designed to do. Sanders Containment Filter is a new, synthetic media developed and now available that has efficiencies higher than HEPA, 99.9998% @.1 micron. This is when it was independently tested on virus VFE (please see our independent test reports). This media's main advantage is that unlike old, hard-sided, micro-fine glass HEPA, it is a soft flexible pad with a low static pressure; .17 W.C. @ 125 cfm/sq. ft. For the first time, this allows for HEPA or near HEPA filtration of the return air directly, in any room. This means that now all rooms may be filtered with HEPA or near-HEPA air quality without any reconstruction costs of transforming the HVAC unit, these work on all previously installed units. By attaching this pad over every return vent you will capture any microbe, as it is about to enter the HVAC system (this is known as source capture). Since all vents must be filtered, a uniform static pressure is achieved and the system is still in balance.The product has such low resistance in the 100 Series, it also will work on very low flow P-Tac or through-wall systems.

       For large areas like airports, hospitals, schools, governmental buildings, or convention centers, the filter is placed on the air entering ports of a high velocity floor fan, up to 3000 cfm. Finding a solution to the transmission of the microbe’s indirect contact in any air space is essential to help prevent nososomial transmission to patients and personnel using or re-using common areas. This could easily be life saving technology when there is not an outbreak, as seen with the current COVID-19 pandemic, as well. This is not limited to hospitals but also should be considered in nursing homes, cruises, subway stations, and any other well-populated indoor areas. This concept of preparing for prevention instead of attacking the virus after it has affected people can change the way we think of clean air and the particles the air, many of which that can be harmful, contains. Additionally, this could change the ability for any immune-compromised patients, oncology patients, infants, and the elderly to live their day-to-day lives by drastically reducing the risk that they would come in contact with a submicron particle that may be virulent.
